In Singapore, there are several insurance providers that offer various types of health insurance plans. One of the most popular types of health insurance plans is the Integrated Shield Plans (IPs), which provides coverage for both public and private hospitals. Among the different IP providers, Income (formerly known as NTUC Income) offers IncomeShield, which comes with an Income’s Enhanced IncomeShield option. Let’s discuss why Enhanced IncomeShield is a better choice compared to other IP providers in Singapore.
- Affordable premiums
One of the primary reasons why Income’s Enhanced IncomeShield is a better choice is because of its affordability. Income offers some of the most competitive premiums in the market, and their Enhanced IncomeShield option is no exception. Their premiums are usually lower than other IP providers in Singapore, making it an affordable option for many individuals and families.
- Extensive coverage
The insurer’s Enhanced IncomeShield provides comprehensive coverage, including pre-hospitalisation, hospitalisation, and post-hospitalisation expenses. Additionally, it also covers ambulance fees, inpatient psychiatric treatments, and day surgery. It also includes coverage for major illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke. With such comprehensive coverage, you can be assured that you will be well protected should the unexpected happen.
- Flexible options
Enhanced IncomeShield offers flexibility when it comes to selecting the plan that best suits your needs. You can choose from different levels of coverage, ranging from Basic, Advantage to the Preferred plans, and you can also add riders to greater increase your coverage further. Additionally, you have the option to choose your preferred hospital ward class, allowing you to customise your plan based on your budget and preferences.
Enhanced IncomeShield covers not only hospitalisation expenses but also pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses. This means that if you require medical treatment before being admitted to the hospital, such as outpatient consultation or tests, the costs will be covered under the plan. Additionally, if you require follow-up treatment after being discharged from the hospital, such as follow-up consultations or medications, Enhanced IncomeShield will also cover these costs.
The number of days covered for pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses depends on the plan that you choose:
For the Basic & Advantage Plans, it covers up to 100 days of pre & post hospitalisation expenses.
For the Preferred Plans, they cover up to 180 days of pre-hospitalisation expenses and up to 365 days of post-hospitalisation expenses. (both of which are offered only when you use the insurer’s panel of doctors, else it will also be 100 days).
It’s important to note that the coverage for pre and post-hospitalisation expenses is subject to the policy terms and conditions, and certain limitations and exclusions may apply. You can refer to the details here.
Enhanced IncomeShield offers a high annual coverage limit of up to SGD 1.5 million, which is higher than some of the other IP plans offered by competitors. This means that you can have a peace of mind knowing that you have sufficient coverage to pay for your medical expenses, even for expensive treatments or surgeries.
Enhanced IncomeShield provides additional benefits for specific medical conditions, such as kidney dialysis, cancer, and pregnancy-related complications. It also provides coverage for congenital abnormalities, which are not always covered by other insurers.
Enhanced IncomeShield offers flexibility in choosing the hospital ward class that best suits your needs and budget. You can choose from A, B1, B2, C, or private hospital wards, allowing you to customize your plan based on your preferences and financial situation.
